چکیده

SUMMARY Diastolic properties of the left ventricle (LV) are probably influenced by several factors, including completeness of ventricular relaxation, composition of the ventricular wall, and wall thickness. This study has utilized a combined ultrasonic and hemodynamic technique to examine the influence of LV posterior wall thickness at end diastole (h,) on LV diastolic characteristics in 24 patients with various forms of heart disease. The slope of late diastolic LV pressure-diameter relations (A&P/AD) was calculated and used as a measure of effective diastolic stiffness (S) late in diastole. S was normalized for average LV pressure during the interval of measurement (P) as S/P, called SN. LV end diastolic pressure (LVEDP), volume index (LVEDVI), and mass index (LVMI) were measured in each patient during the same study at which hp, S and SN were determined .

بررسی یافته های اکوکاردیو گرافیک قلبی در بیماران سیروز کبدی

Introduction: Cardiovascular abnormalities have been reported in liver cirrhosis (LC). In these patients, cardiac symptoms and physical signs occur as the liver functions worsen. Cirrhosis is associated with hyper dynamic circulation and beta-adrenergic system changes responsible for the cardiovascular abnormalities. The purpose of the present study was to explore the echocardiographic findi...

Evaluation of diastolic blood flow dynamic of the left ventricle in dogs with mitral valve regurgitation using vector flow mapping

Mitral valve regurgitation (MVR) is a common valvular disease in dogs. Hydrokinetic evaluation of the blood flow within the ventricles has become possible by vector flow mapping (VFM), which shows the blood flow within the ventricles in vector and vortex flows. Blood flow within the left ventricle of MVR dogs was compared at different stages of MVR and to that of normal dogs. 14 normal dogs and...

Viscoelastic properties of the diastolic left ventricle in the conscious dog.

The mechanical properties of the normal left ventricular wall during diastole were studied in 15 chronically instrumented, conscious dogs. Left ventricular minor and major axis diameters and equatorial wall thickness were measured with implanted pulse-transit ultrasonic dimension transducers. Left ventricular and pleural pressures were measured with high fidelity micromanometers. Circumferentia...

Left ventricular wall thickness and disease duration in systemic sclerosis.

Myocardial thickness, left ventricular functions, and right heart overloading were investigated in 80 patients with systemic sclerosis by echocardiography. Based on the left ventricular wall thickness, three groups were formed. Fifteen patients with asymmetrical left ventricular wall hypertrophy (Group 1) showed shorter mean disease duration with marked diastolic and mild systolic left ventricu...

Measurement of Left Ventricular Wall Thickness and Mass by Eehocardiography

same variables in corresponding patients. The echo-measured left ventricular enddiastolic chamber dimension (Dd) correlated closely with the angiographic minor axis in the AP plane (correlation coefficient 0.87 and SE -+-0.45 cm) and with the minor axis from the lateral film (r 0.91, SE +0.39 cm). Similar correlations were found between measurements by these methods of wall thickness (r = 0.89,...
